Project Information:
  • This project is partially funded by the State of Indiana’s Community Crossing Matching Grant.
  • Liquid Road is a sealant applied to asphalt surfaces, designed to prevent moisture from penetrating below the surface and adding a new wear surface to the roadway.
  • The material is water-based and requires evaporation to cure, typically taking 3-5 hours, depending on humidity and temperature.
  • No traffic will be allowed on treated surfaces until the material has completely cured.
  • Residents are encouraged to park on adjacent streets to avoid being contained within the project area.
  • On-street parking will be prohibited on scheduled days.
  • Residents will be notified by door hangers with specific project dates and times.
  • Affected streets will reopen immediately after the material has cured.
  • Columbia St. will be completed over two separate days. During application and curing, a pilot car will be used to guide traffic through the work zone.
  • Drivers must wait for the pilot car before proceeding to ensure safety.
  • All work zones will be marked with standard construction zone signage.
Explanation:
Liquid Road is a pavement preservation treatment that seals the asphalt surface, extending the life of the roadway by preventing water damage and providing a fresh layer for wear and tear.
A pilot car is a vehicle used to guide traffic through a work zone safely, especially in areas where traffic flow is restricted. It ensures that vehicles pass through the construction area in a controlled and safe manner.
