Update:
At approximately 8:48 AM on Friday, November 21, 2025, Danville Police officers were dispatched regarding a report of a suicidal male who had left his residence armed with a firearm. Officers quickly located the individual’s vehicle at the Blanton Woods Trail System, part of the Town of Danville Parks and Recreation.
At 9:08 AM, the Danville Police Department Drone Team was deployed and successfully located the male in a wooded area, armed with a handgun. Multiple Danville officers, Investigators, and staff contained the scene, and a certified negotiator from the Danville Police Department engaged in dialogue with the individual for over an hour.
At approximately 10:39 AM, the situation was resolved peacefully when the subject placed the firearm down and was safely detained by Danville Officers. The individual was evaluated by medics from the Danville Fire Department and is currently receiving mental health treatment.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance, providing additional personnel and a second negotiator. We are thankful that the individual chose to seek help and did not harm himself.
