Danville Social District – Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DORA?

DORA stands for Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area.

A Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area allows patrons 21 years of age and older to purchase alcoholic beverages from approved alcoholic beverage permittees and carry those beverages outdoors for consumption within the designated DORA boundaries.

All alcoholic beverages must:

  • Be purchased from a business licensed by the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission (ATC)

  • Be served in an official DORA-approved cup

  • Remain within the Social District boundaries

In Danville, the DORA is known as the Danville Social District.
