The Downtown Danville Social District will go into effect on February 12, 2026.

The Town of Danville has adopted an ordinance creating the Danville Social District, a designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA).

The Danville Social District allows adults 21 and over to enjoy beverages outdoors within posted downtown boundaries when purchased from participating businesses and served in approved cups. It is designed to help people gather, explore, and belong in Downtown Danville—making it a great place to spend an hour or a lifetime.

Ordinance No. 23-2025 was adopted on September 17, 2025, and the Social District will go into effect on February 12, 2026.

What You Need to Know:

Social District Daily Hours
11:00 AM – 1:00 AM

Adults 21+ may purchase and enjoy alcoholic beverages outdoors within the Social District, in accordance with all rules.

Beverage Limits:

  • Beer or flavored malt beverages: up to 16 ounces

  • Wine, cider, or premixed cocktails: up to 12 ounces

  • Liquor or liquor-based cocktails: up to 10 ounces, with no more than 2 ounces of liquor

Rules to Remember:

  • Drinks must be in an officially labeled Social District cup (no glass or cans)

  • Drinks must remain within the posted Social District boundaries

  • Drinks are permitted inside owner-approved businesses; look for signage

  • No outside alcohol is permitted

  • Alcohol purchased at one Social District alcohol-serving business cannot be carried into another alcohol-serving business
