About Danville Parks Department
The Danville Parks and Recreation Department team maintains over 165 acres of parkland spread across
seven park sites, over 20 miles of paves and recreation trails, the Danville Athletic Club, Gill Family
Aquatic Center, and many more recreation-related amenities and facilities.

Position Overview
This position works to assist in planning, managing, and reviewing the activities and operations of the
Recreation Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. The ongoing aspects of the job require
monitoring growth of recreation programming through data keeping and program reporting and
promoting positive awareness of the parks to citizens. Some job aspects are supported as needed, such
as assisting in fundraising coordination or maintenance tasks of the Parks and Rec Department.
A Day in the Life
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
• Using excellent customer service skills to work with the public
• Assist in directing, overseeing, and participating in the development of the Department’s Master
Plan
• Assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work
products, methods. and procedures.
• Support the development and administration of the Recreation budget; aid in the forecasting of
funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Responsible for assisting in the organization and implementation the Summer Park Program.
• Responsible for daily cleaning duties at the Recreation Center.
What You’ll Need for Success
You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:
• A minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of two years of related
experience or equivalent combination of Education and experience
• Have a basic knowledge of organizational and management practices as applied to the analysis
and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs.
• Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed
actions and implement recommendations in support of goals
• Must be able to recommend and implement goals, objectives, and practices for providing
effective and efficient parks and recreation operations and service delivery.
• Must have knowledge of current local, social, political and economic trends including operating
challenges regarding parks and recreation programs.
• Ability to utilize computer technology in modernizing office procedures and record keeping
