In Danville, the DORA is known as the Danville Social District.
What is DORA?
DORA stands for Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area.
A Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area allows patrons 21 years of age and older to purchase alcoholic beverages from approved alcoholic beverage permittees and carry those beverages outdoors for consumption within the designated DORA boundaries.

Where is the Danville Social District located?
Please refer to the official Danville Social District map, which outlines the approved boundaries. Alcoholic beverages must remain within these posted boundaries at all times.
What are the hours of the Danville Social District?
The Danville Social District is in effect:
Monday–Sunday: 11:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Alcohol consumption outside these hours is not permitted in the Danville Social District.
Can I walk anywhere with my Social District beverage?
No. You must remain within the posted Social District boundaries shown on the official map. Alcoholic beverages may not be taken outside the district.
Can patrons enter or leave a business with alcoholic beverages?
Yes. An approved alcoholic beverage permittee may allow patrons to exit their establishment into the Social District with no more than two (2) open alcoholic beverages, provided they are in approved DORA cups.
Can I take my drink into another bar or restaurant?
No. Drinks purchased from one Social District alcohol-serving business must be finished before entering another alcohol-serving business.
What alcoholic beverages can be purchased in the Social District?
Participating permittees may sell beer, wine, and liquor, subject to their ATC license and individual offerings.
Can I bring my own alcohol or pour it into a DORA cup?
No. Only alcoholic beverages purchased from approved Social District participating businesses and poured directly into an official DORA cup at the time of sale are permitted.
Can alcohol purchased outside the Social District be brought in?
No. Alcoholic beverages purchased outside the Social District boundaries or from non-participating permittees may not be consumed in public areas within the Social District.
Can businesses within the Social District prohibit alcohol on their property?
Yes. Businesses located within the Social District may, on a non-discriminatory basis, choose to prohibit patrons from entering their establishment with alcoholic beverages.
Look for signs indicating whether drinks are permitted inside or outside a business.
Can approved permittees serve alcohol on patios without fencing?
Yes. For approved alcoholic beverage permittees located within the Social District, patios are not required to be enclosed by fencing or other barriers, unless otherwise required by law.
Is there a fee to participate as an approved Social District permittee?
At this time, the Town of Danville does not charge a participation fee.
How does a business apply to participate in the Danville Social District?

The form must be submitted to the Town of Danville for approval prior to filing with the Indiana Alcohol & Tobacco Commission.
I have a food truck and want to sell alcohol during an event or concert in the Social District. What do I do?
In addition to your regular ATC Alcoholic beverage permit, you will also complete the application below and form and submit it to theTown for a signature prior to submitting it to the ATC.

Ordering DORA Stickers and Sign:
Participating businesses and temporary vendors that have submitted all required documentation must coordinate with the Community Engagement Coordinator to obtain approved Social District stickers for use on cups and signs. Temporary vendors must indicate the number of stickers requested on the Temporary Vendor Application. Any unused stickers must be returned to Town Hall or to a participating local business.
