Development Services
The Town of Danville's development services include the Building and Planning Departments, each with its own duties and responsibilities. The Planning Department is responsible for all activities concerning the use and development of land within the Town's incorporated limits. The Building Department oversees all construction activity in the Town, as well as permit review and building code compliance.
The Planning Department also coordinates the activities of the
Plan Commission, the
Board of Zoning Appeals, and the Design Review Committee. The most common actions performed by the Plan Commission include approving subdivision plats, making recommendations for rezonings, and conducting site plan reviews. The BZA's primary responsibility is to hold public hearings and render decisions on requests for variances. The Design Review Committee reviews exterior renovation and new construction projects in the Town's Corridor Protection Overlay District.
